The Royal Opera House dates are from 5 October until 24 October 2021, and then 10 January until 25 February 2022. It will have a Valentine’s Day cinema screening on 14 February 2022. Romeo and Juliethas become a great modern ballet classic of the ballet repertory since its creation by Royal Ballet Director. It will be the first time the company has performed a full three-act ballet since March 2020. The season opens with Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet on Tuesday 5 October. The 85 players were conducted by the renowned Royal Opera House Music Director Koen Kessels, and the Concert Master was Vasko Vassilev. The season includes world premieres of Wayne McGregor’s The Dante Project, Christopher Wheeldon’s Like Water for Chocolate, a new work by Kyle Abraham as well as the full-length ballets Giselle, The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. It was recorded at AIR Studios in Hampstead, London, with the Orchestra of The Royal Opera House. This October The Royal Ballet returns for its first full season in 18 months. Set against the backdrop of Renaissance Verona we are brought into the rust and deep reds of a bustling Tuscan market, a kinetic tableau vivant replete with punk-haired harlots, traders and aristocrats all rubbing along together.
